Khan
Khan is the mystic of the Metro series, a shamanic guide to the tunnels' unseen side in Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light and the hero of the VR prequel Metro Awakening. Metro 2039's creative director quoted him to explain why souls cannot leave the Metro.
Khan is the Metro series' mystic, who in his own game moves between the visible world and the unseen: a figure of Metro 2033, "a shamanic hunter" in Metro: Last Light, and the hero of Metro Awakening, the VR prequel that tells how he became Khan. Metro 2039 has not announced him as a character as of Nov 3, 2026, but his ideas are part of it: creative director Andriy Shevchenko quoted Khan from Metro 2033 to explain why souls cannot leave the Metro, as the new game brings back ghosts, anomalies and The Dark Ones. The clip is Gaming Harry's account of Khan in Metro 2033.

Khan in Metro 2033 and Last Light
In the first two games Khan is the mystic among the people Artyom meets, and it is his Metro 2033 words about souls that 4A chose to explain Metro 2039's ghosts. Digital Trends' Last Light review calls him "the shamanic hunter" with a distinct personality. Last Light's add-ons gave him a level of his own, KHAN, alongside ANNA and PAVEL. Khan in Metro Awakening
Metro Awakening (Nov 7, 2024, by Vertigo Games with Deep Silver) is a standalone prequel to Metro 2033, set in the Metro in 2028. Serdar, a doctor, searches the tunnels for his missing wife and becomes Khan, and players live his origin "as if they were in his shoes". Glukhovsky wrote the story and called it "so essential to me". UploadVR spelled the doctor "Sedar"; the maker writes Serdar. The clip is Eurogamer's review of Metro Awakening.
